Licensed Cosmetologist Residency
A future expansion opportunity for selected graduates, delivered with a participating salon or employer—not a requirement for every 2027 participant.
Radiant Pathways will support participants from cosmetology education through Maryland licensure, employment and professional growth—with entrepreneurship available only for those who want it.
The four-person 2027 pilot will serve Howard County and surrounding Central Maryland communities. Applications are not yet open.

Radiant Pathways exists to close the distance between finishing training and thriving professionally: the exposure, guidance, credentials and connections that decide whether a licensed career actually takes hold.
It is not a scholarship fund, and it is not a recruiting pipeline for a single employer. It is a workforce-development program organized around a participant's own career goal, delivered with cosmetology schools, salons, industry professionals and funders.
ACCESS removes barriers during education. EXPERIENCE builds workplace readiness. LAUNCH supports licensed employment. OWN is an optional path for participants who choose entrepreneurship.
Remove financial barriers to education.
Scholarship assistance, supportive services, career-development workshops, mentoring and other participant supports during cosmetology education.
Build workplace readiness and salon experience.
Salon exposure, job shadowing, mentorship and optional paid salon assistant or work-based-learning opportunities when qualified positions are available.
Strengthen technical, professional and client-development skills and support the transition into licensed employment.
Licensure transition, employment, continued professional development, client-development skills and career growth with a participating employer.
Prepare interested participants for independent practice or business ownership.
Optional entrepreneurship preparation for participants who choose independent practice, booth or chair rental, suite ownership, salon ownership or another appropriate path.
Every selected participant receives the program’s core support. Paid assistantships are separate, optional opportunities, and each participant chooses where their career leads.
A student applies for the Radiant Pathways Scholarship + Career Development Program. No cosmetology-hour minimum is required for the scholarship application.
Applications are independently scored. Four participants are selected, with awards based on demonstrated need up to $5,000.
Participants receive scholarship support, career-development workshops, mentor access, external-scholarship assistance, salon exposure and supportive services when eligible.
A participant may apply for available salon assistantships after completing approximately 300 cosmetology-school hours. This is a completely separate employment application.
A participant selected by a salon may begin a paid assistantship when employer availability, program readiness, school standing, legal scope and employment-documentation requirements are satisfied. Participants who are not hired continue receiving all other Radiant Pathways benefits.
At approximately 1,500 hours or program completion, participants prepare for the licensing exam, professional resumes, interviews, salon employment and transition planning.
A licensed participant may apply to Radiant Reflections Beauty, another salon partner, another beauty-industry employer or another appropriate employment opportunity. No employer is required.
As Radiant Pathways expands, selected graduates may participate in a structured Licensed Cosmetologist Residency with a participating salon or employer.
Participants may pursue employment advancement, management or leadership, specialization, independent practice or entrepreneurship.
Participants who want and are ready for ownership may later enter the Beauty Entrepreneurship Incubator and may establish businesses at Radiant Reflections Beauty, another salon, a salon suite, a booth or chair rental arrangement, or another legally appropriate location.
One supported journey. Many possible career destinations.
Four selected participants will receive coordinated financial, professional and career-transition support.
Pilot learning and partner capacity will guide two deliberate areas of future expansion.

The 2027 pilot will serve adults accepted into or enrolled in a Maryland cosmetology program who demonstrate financial need, career commitment and willingness to participate in career development and outcome tracking. Howard County and surrounding Central Maryland communities are the initial priority.
A realistic picture of the career, the licensure process and what employers expect.
Guidance from someone who has already built the career you are working toward.
Time inside a working salon, so your first professional day is not your first exposure.
Connections to schools, salons, professionals and peers moving in the same direction.
Assistance targeted at the costs that most often interrupt training, as funding allows.
Support for employment, advancement, independent practice or ownership — your choice.
Students can join the interest list. Salons, schools, mentors and funders can help launch the 2027 pilot.
